Baggage Claim

Watching people at the airport baggage claim makes me extremely depressed about how little our civilisation has progressed. Everyone crams themselves right up against the conveyor belt to that they are in a good position to grab their bag. Of course, there is not enough room for everyone to be front row, so when someone at the back's bag shows up they generally have to force their way to the front and pull their bag off in haste, which generally involves taking a few people out. It is just so obvious that if everyone just stood back a few paces from the belt until their bag arrived, people could casually and safely grab their bag, and it would be just as quick. It makes it difficult for me to believe that we are ever going to make any progress with any of the bigger issues facing the planet, when people have this inherant petty selfishness.

Serenity

Once again, not really into corny inspirational crap, but the words of this little poem have continually popped into my head as good advice since I first saw it decades ago hung on a mates toilet door:

Grant me the serenity to
Accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time
Enjoying one moment at a time.

Banksy Kicks Ass

Sunny Road

Best song I've heard in a while is Sunny Road by Emiliana Torrini.

I listened to it 100 times. It made me sad as anything.

Simplicity

Not usually into quotes but here is one that spoke to me:

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." -- Leonardo da Vinci

Wisdom Teeth

I got my last 3 wisdom teeth out yesterday. It was elective, and something I've wanted to do for a while. It was a symbolic thing, like spring cleaning. Getting rid of some baggage, and leaving me more optimised afterwards.
